Pacific Northwest based artist Matthew Castor produces work in a range of mediums and scales. From Bronze sculptures to oil paintings, Castor's work transcends traditional boundries of artist medium and utilizes a more interdisciplinary approach to creative practice. His body of work delivers art through sculpture, photography, painting, installation. and performance.
Castor earned his B.A. in Communication and the Arts
from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay and his MFA in Visual Design from the University of Oregon - School of Architecture & Allied Arts. As a Master's candidate in the University of Oregon Art Department, Castor received nine fellowships teaching photography and design in an environment that fostered interdisciplinary collaboration between classrooms and departments.
In addition to his personal creative practice, Castor has for the last three years, worked for the Northern California based "Art Foundry" to produce monumental scale bronze sculptures for countless regional and nationally based artists. He is fully skilled in large scale lost wax casting, welding, finishing, precision fabrication, project management, and installation.
